7th Grade Sewing



The 7th grade exploratory class is starting their sewing unit. This week they practiced sewing various lines on paper. Next week they will start working on their pajama pants.

 

Fabric Donations

UPDATE:
I need to clarify... the fabric is for pajama pants. Therefore, it needs to be woven cotton, flannel, or lightweight fleece...

Nothing with lots of embellishment, glitter, sparkles. NO knit fabric, either.

For those of you that sew....

do you have fabric that you will not use? Especially fabric in longer lengths (2-3 yard pieces). At times we have students that cannot get (or FORGET) to get their fabric for sewing projects. The FCS department can always use your extra, leftover fabric. Just contact Mrs. Roberts at the high school.

Foods 1st Lab: Salsa

Mrs. Roberts forgot to take any pictures during the preparation part of the lab...so here is kitchen 4 after they finished and are enjoying their salsa!

The Foods class did a great job on their first lab. Even with four students in each kitchen they were able to divide up the few tasks and work together. The salsa recipe is located under the "Our Recipes" tab at the top of this page. Looking forward to our next lab!!

7th Grade Exploratory Supplies

For 7th grade exploratory students ~ you will need the following supplies for your pajama pants:


- 3 yards of fabric: cotton, woven, flannel, fleece
   NO sparkly, glittery, silky or very stretchy fabric, please!
- ALL PURPOSE thread to match the fabric
- pins
- package of elastic, 1 - 1.5 inches in width


Fabric and supplies should be to school by 
Tuesday, November 8th

Apple Crisp & Color Wheels

Last Thursday and Friday the Foods & Nutrition class made FOUR different kinds of apple crisp...

It was a day full of sweets...In clothing class, we are studying the color wheel, so we made color wheel creations with sugar cookies and frosting. We started with the three primary colors...

By the time we were done we had several colors of frosting and our lips and mouths were also several different colors! The cookies were too beautiful to eat!
